BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- China announced its 14-player squad on Wednesday for the upcoming qualification of women's volleyball competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, with captain Zhu Ting leading the defending champions.
Regular players such as Zhu, Yuan Xinyue, Zhang Changning are no doubt to be named on the list. Middle blockers Wang Yuanyuan joined Zheng Yixin to earn their call-ups with outstanding performance in the finals of Volley Nations League while the best spiker of the finals Liu Yanhan was cut from the squad.
Twenty-four teams are divided into six pools of four each, with the top teams by Sunday evening punching their tickets for the Japanese capital next year.
China are in Group B with Turkey, Germany and Czech Republic, with the hosts to kick off the campaign taking on the Czech Republic in China's eastern city of Ningbo on August 2.
