JAKARTA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government slammed the recent terrorist attacks in Egypt's Cairo that claimed the lives of civilians and injured others, Indonesian foreign ministry said here on Tuesday.
"Indonesia strongly condemns the terrorist strikes in Cairo on August 4 which left tens of people killed and wounded," the ministry said in a statement.
Indonesia expressed a deep sympathy and condolence to the victims and their relatives.
A huge explosion caused by a multi-vehicle crash struck central Cairo earlier Sunday, leaving up to 20 people dead and 47 others injured, Egypt's health ministry said.
A statement released by the Egyptian Interior Ministry revealed that the car causing the blast has been found containing explosives, and it was meant "to be used in a terrorist operation."
Indonesia has also struggled to fight against terrorism as the country has been hit by a series of suicide bombings that killed dozens of people in recent years.
