TAIYUAN, China, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Sichuan Blue Whale beat Shaanxi Xi'an in the Under-18 women's club tournament of the ongoing second China Youth Games on Sunday, earning its second straight victory in the group stage.
Sichuan's center Liu Yutong got eight points in a row at the beginning of the match, helping her team take the upper hand and have a 10-point-advantage in the first quarter.
Besides pocketing points herself, Liu also contribute accurate passes to her teammates and threw her rivals into desperation.
In the third quarter, Chen Yuekun enlarged her team's advantages over 30 points. Sichuan sent bench players in the final quarter and locked the score 103-69.
Liu got 27 points in the game, plus nine rebounds. Fang Zhuoya of Sichuan pocketed 12 points and 11 assists. Sichuan became one of the title favorites after grabbing two wins.
Taiyuan Elites got its first victory of the tournament on Sunday, beating Liaoning Zhongda 92-71 in the second round of group match.
Five players of the host team got two digits points respectively, Yu Jiajin contributed a double-double to Taiyuan team.
The host kept alive its hope of entering the last four of the tournament with three games remaining in the stage.
In the other Under-18 women's clubs' match played on Sunday, Changsha Ya'ao won over Chongqing Bashu 91-40.
In the Under-16 clubs' clashes on Sunday, Chongqing Zhidong smashed Harbin Hualong 88-38, and Shaanxi Tianze lost to Taiyuan Elites 75-37.
