BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan was named the honorary president of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) in Beijing Tuesday.
The decision was made by the 11th council for the RCSC in accordance with the RCSC charter and announced at the closing meeting of the 11th general congress of the RCSC.
Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress who was elected as the president of the RCSC at the first meeting of the 11th council for the RCSC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting also passed resolutions on the working report of the RCSC's 10th council, the amendment of the RCSC charter and a development plan from 2020 to 2024.
