FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Security forces after days of fighting were able to recapture Karan wa Munjan district in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province, an army statement said here Friday.
The security forces, launching a counter-offensive a couple of days ago, had forced militants to flee, the statement said.
Without providing information on casualties of both sides, the statement said that the security forces had arrested six armed militants during the operations.
Taliban militants have not made comments on the report yet.
The government forces, in a crackdown against Taliban fighters, recaptured Wardoj and Yamgan districts last week, forcing militants to disperse in the adjoining mountains.
