RABAT, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Morocco hailed the progress made in the implementation of the peace plan in the Central African Republic (CAR), said Moroccan official news agency MAP on Saturday.
Coherence between efforts of the United Nations and its partners on the ground is now more than necessary to ensure the durability of the peace plan, added the agency quoting Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Bourita was speaking during a ministerial meeting on Thursday in New York on the sideline of the UN General Assembly, organized by Morocco as a chair of the CAR Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission.
"Although presidential elections is scheduled for December 2020, time is running out for the mobilization of the necessary resources for the smooth running of this process, such as electoral mapping," Bourita added.
He welcomed the opening of investigations by the Special Criminal Court and the reforms under way of the judicial system across the CAR.
The humanitarian situation continues to be alarming, he said, adding that the Peacebuilding Commission strongly condemn the violations of the Peace Agreement and encourage the continuation of measures taken for its full implementation.
The CAR Configuration will focus on preparations for the next electoral process and the implementation of the peace Plan, he added.
