BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The ballet adaptation of Tolstoy's classic novel "Anna Karenina" will hit the stage of the Tianqiao Theater in Beijing on Oct. 20.
The ballet will be performed by artists from the Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, also known as the Glinka Theater, according to the Tianqiao Theater.
Unlike the novel which includes two storylines with more than 150 characters in a rich depiction of Russian society in the 19th century, the ballet adaptation focuses on the love triangle between the heroine, her husband and her lover, unfurling a woman's internal struggle.
Founded in 1956, the Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater is one of Russia's greatest theaters, drawing its alternative name from the Russian composer Mikhail Glinka.
