ROME, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- UEFA kicked off disciplinary proceedings on Monday against Italian club Lazio over racist behavior by its fans during a match against Rennes last week.
According to Italian media, Lazio fans made Roman salutes during their club's 2-1 home win over Rennes in a UEFA Europa League group stage match last Thursday.
Part of the Olimpico was closed during the match after fans behaved similarly during a loss to Sevilla in February, daily La Repubblica reported.
UEFA said the case will be heard on October 17.
