RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bruno Henrique scored in each half as Flamengo edged closer to their first Brazilian Serie A title in a decade with a 2-0 victory at Athletico Paranaense on Sunday.
The visitors went ahead just before halftime when Henrique slotted a shot into the bottom corner after intercepting a wayward pass by goalkeeper Leo da Silva inside his own penalty area.
The 28-year-old former Wolfsburg forward doubled his personal tally in second-half stoppage time by side-footing a first-time effort past Da Silva after Rene Rodrigues's cross from the left.
The result extended Flamengo's unbeaten run to 15 matches as they maintained their eight-point lead over second-placed Palmeiras. Athletico dropped to 10th in the 20-team standings and have won just one of their past four league matches.
In other fixtures on Sunday, Santos drew 0-0 at Internacional, Ceara secured a 1-0 home win over Avai, Gremio won 4-1 at Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro drew 1-1 at Chapecoense.
