BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's Cloud Gate dance group and the mainland's Tao Dance Theater are to jointly stage performances at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing from Nov. 14 to 17.
The Cloud Gate troupe will be choreographed by Lin Hwai-min, founder and choreographer of the group, and Tao Ye, choreographer and founder of the Tao Dance Theater, according to the NCPA.
Dancers of the Tao Dance Theater will perform a work choreographed by Cheng Tsung-lung, artistic director of the Cloud Gate troupe.
The Cloud Gate group was founded by Lin in 1973, the first of its kind in Taiwan. Cloud Gate dancers are trained in meditation, martial arts, modern dance, ballet and more, according to the group. The group has won a number of international prizes and it tours extensively around the world.
Founded in 2008, the Tao Dance Theater is one of the most unorthodox contemporary dance companies on the Chinese mainland, presenting audiences with an unprecedented minimalist type of performance.
