BERLIN, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Koen Naert clinched the gold medal after crossing the finish line with a European Championships record of 2 hours 9 minutes 51 seconds at the inaugural multi sport European Championships in Berlin's city centre on Sunday.
Switzerland's Tadesse Abraham sealed the silver medal with 2 hours 11 minutes 24 seconds whereas Italy's Yassine Rachik clocked a personal best with 2 hours 12 minutes 09 seconds.
The European Championships is the first edition of a new multi-sport event, which is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. More than 4,500 athletes are competing for 187 gold medals until August 12.
