JAKARTA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian men's basketball team set to take part in the Asian Games this year has confirmed that it is in compliance with a regulation over composition of players during the regional sport event.
Asian Games rules only allow each team to include only one naturalized basketball player during the event, which will be held in Indonesia next year.
"We only use one naturalized player during the Asian Games 2018," coach of Indonesian basketball team Fictor Roring confirmed here on Wednesday.
The team secured a gold medal during a recent basketball test event for the Asian Games.
The coach said that the team has several candidates to fill the position on the team.
"This is not easy because we must pick up the best one," he said.
The men's team secured one silver medal during the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur last year and the 2016 SEA Games in Singapore.
The 18th Asian Games are scheduled to be held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra province from August 18 to September 2.
