TOKYO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as a pause in the tumble of the Turkish lira eased fears about the financial crisis although concerns remained about contagion in emerging economies.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 254.66 points, or 1.17 percent, from Monday to 22,112.09.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 13.05 points, or 0.78 percent, to 1,696.55.
Transportation service and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that gained the most before the morning break.
