BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's southern island province of Hainan announced Saturday at a job fair in Beijing that more than 7,000 new jobs will be created to promote free trade zone (FTZ) construction.
A total of 7,471 jobs from 371 enterprises and public institutions will recruit talents in various fields, including biopharmaceutics, network technology, oceanography, tourism.
Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan province, said that with its unique location and as more well-known enterprises are coming to the island, Hainan has become a fertile soil for talents.
Meanwhile, with the construction of Hainan FTZ, Hainan will become a vital meeting point for people, logistics and capital flows and an essential node for global resource allocation. Trade and investment facilitation will bring about unprecedented opportunities for global talents, Shen said.
Shen believes that talents will inject powerful impetus into the Hainan FTZ.
China has rolled out a plan for building Hainan into a pilot free trade zone. By 2020, the plan aims to build Hainan into a high standard and high-quality FTZ that promotes trade and investment facilitation and provides a good environment.
Mo Guangcai, who works with the Hainan Province Transport Investment Holding Company Limited, said that the company plans to hire 58 employees this year, up about 300 percent year on year.
The job fair, jointly organized by the provincial government, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, has attracted government agencies, universities, financial institutions, private enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises and key state-owned enterprises in Hainan province.
Xu Zepeng, a senior majoring in automation at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, carried a pile of resumes and various job hunting materials to the fair. "I've been looking forward to working on the beautiful island for a long time. I was really excited when I heard about this job fair," Xu said.
The job fair was divided into on-site recruitment and online recruitment. Applicants who are not able to be on site can learn about Hainan's talent recruitment policies on the official website, via WeChat or by calling the hotline.
