XI'AN, West China, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Ducks edged off Nanjing Tongxi Dasheng 97-96 in overtime on Thursday, earning their first victory of the latest three rounds.
Tongxi started the game with a 7-2 spurt from three consecutive turnovers of Liu Xiaoyu. Beijing only got four points in the first six minutes, but when Aaron Jackson came back, they clawed back to tie it up before the first quarter whistle.
Tongxi kept their rhythm in the second period, and after an outstanding finish of Joseph Young, annoying Beijing's head coach Yannis Christopoulos roared to his bench. Beijing trailed by 10 points in the first half.
With a solid defence, Beijing narrowed the gap to four in the third quarter when they wore down Young, the main attacker of Tongxi.
After exchanging the lead constantly, Jackson scored with 4.2 seconds left to tie it on 86-86, bringing the game to the extra period. Young got eight points down the stretch, but it was Jackson who finished the game-winning shot.
In the other games played on Thursday, Shanghai Sharks lost to Shanxi Guotou Loongs 120-103, Shenzhen Leopards beat Jilin Northeast Tigers 129-118.
The league will take an All-Star break this weekend and the regular season matches will be resumed on January 15.
