LIMA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- A 95th-minute strike from substitute Cristian Ferreira earned defending champions River Plate a 1-1 draw at Alianza Lima in their opening Copa Libertadores group match here on Wednesday.
Jose Manzaneda had given the hosts the lead at Peru's Estadio Nacional with a low finish from 12 yards on the half-hour mark.
But 19-year-old Ferreira, who replaced Colombian international midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero in the 60th minute, sent a free-kick curling over the wall and into the top left corner with the last kick of the game.
In the Colombian port city of Barranquilla, Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras beat Junior thanks to goals either side of halftime from Gustavo Scarpa and Marcos Rocha.
Junior were reduced to 10 men when striker Teofilo Gutierrez was shown a second yellow card with 15 minutes remaining.
The most entertaining fixture of the second night of this year's competition was Universidad Concepcion of Chile's 5-4 home win over Peruvian side Sporting Cristal.
Patricio Rubio struck four goals for the hosts and Cristian Palacios netted a brace for Sporting Cristal.
In other matches on Wednesday, Internacional won 1-0 at Palestino, Cerro Porteno secured a 1-0 victory at Atletico Mineiro, Gremio drew 1-1 at Rosario Central and Nacional won 1-0 at Zamora.
