RIO DE JANEIRO, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Inter Milan loanee Gabriel Barbosa and Colombian forward Fernando Uribe struck second-half goals as Flamengo beat LDU Quito 3-1 in their Copa Libertadores group match here on Wednesday.
Everton Ribeiro put the Brazilian side ahead in the ninth minute at the Maracana Stadium by sweeping in a low first-time effort after Diego's assist.
Gabriel Barbosa rifled in Flamengo's second goal shortly after the hour mark before Uribe netted from close range nine minutes from time.
Cristian Martinez pegged a goal back for the Ecuadorian outfit by converting a stoppage time penalty.
The result gave Flamengo a three-point lead over LDU Quito at the top of Group D, with Bolivia's CD San Jose and Uruguayan side Penarol having a game in hand.
In Buenos Aires, defending champions River Plate continued their lackluster start to the tournament with a goalless home draw against Chilean qualifiers Palestino.
